This section is not intended to hold Ordnance Survey (OS), other such published maps nor tithe maps. However there are many other manuscript maps, some in the Club’s own collection, which are not easily accessible. Often they are estate maps (which may overlap parish boundaries) and which can be accompanied by ‘terriers’ which give details of the fields and their tenants. It is not possible to index all the personal names but the maps will be keyworded by date (if available), parish(s) and location or estate name if relevant. Some maps may be accessible to members only.
Hereford itself and towns with several parishes will be found under one ‘PARISH’ heading. There are now 239 civil parishes in Herefordshire and the parish list below gives the current position. Be aware that re-organisations of parishes have taken place over time and you may have to check other parishes to find a specific map. The original maps and plans may be in poor condition so in some cases the contrast has been increased so that writing, in particular, is more visible.
