HEREFORDSHIRE ARCHAEOLOGICAL NEWS (HAN)

HAN was originally a newsletter for the Club’s Archaeological Research Section (ARS) which was founded in the 1960s by younger Club members who wished to conduct more research in the field. Later HANs included more papers to complement field visits, and these include much original research, both historical and archaeological.

After 2000 it became more difficult to find leaders for the field visits and the section was suspended in 2017. The last HAN, HAN 83, was published in 2015.

In 2005 Heritage Lottery funding was granted to produce electronic versions of the HANs to date as many originals had been produced on degrading paper. In addition, a searchable electronic index of the HANs to date was newly produced. This index is now complete to HAN 83. Search using the search options at the top of the screen. From this the HANs are available as downloadable files.
