In theory all archaeological finds made by Club members should be reported to the Portable Antiquities scheme. The scheme was initially set up so that the increasing number of finds made by metal detectorists could be registered. It has now registered many non-metallic artefacts such as flints and pottery. It does not seem to be suitable for registering items which cannot be moved such as field allotment markers. The procedure to register an item is not straightforward, requiring photographs, accurate weights and dimensions of small objects. This section offers a more informal recording mechanism so that the informationĀ is not lost.

A list of information required will be published shortly.
